The IELTS is a test of English, needed for entrance to academic studies and work in the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries.

If you are considering working or applying to universities in the UK, Australia, Canada or New Zealand, you will probably be asked to take the IELTS exam. This test checks your skills in various areas of the English language: Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, Writing and Speaking. It takes approximately 3 hours to accomplish.

The test is paper-based, and the Speaking test contains a personal interview with an examiner, which is recorded on an audiocassette.

The IELTS takes place approximately twice a month in Israel. Dates can be received from the British Council in Israel by email:  ielts@britishcouncil.org.il  or by phone, at:  03-6113605. The test costs 900 NIS.

Registration for the test is done in the British Council offices, at: Beit HaCrystal, 12 Hahilazon street, Ramat-Gan.
