When at least

When at least five admissions committee officers are reading your essays, and you are well-aware of the fact that each of them reads approximately 50 other files a day, you have no doubt that your material must be brilliant.

When your competition is against the finest in the international student pool, your application essays must leave a deep, positive impression. You are a winner, a pragmatist, an individual, an asset to the university. No word is redundant, no word is wanting - the essay sells.

Tamar Cohen, former Jerusalem Post  journalist, editor and copywriter, is the first and most experienced in Israel in the field of planning and writing professional college application essays, university resumes and recommendation letters. With 92% success statistics (clients accepted into at least one of their favored two universities), she is the field's leader.

Many dozens of students feel they owe her their acceptance.

Realizing that her service complements, optimally, the academic profile of GMAX students, we are proud to recommend her writing services above all others.

Good Luck,

Tips from Tamar

Scenario and Specifications

You are applicant 49 on a Thursday. Ted, the admissions committee officer reluctantly getting ready to read your file, is bored, tired and fantasizing about lunch. The heaps of files he has so far read reflect the profiles of university students with professional and academic backgrounds that are probably as impressive as yours are. How do you win him over?

Before you begin writing, consolidate a full picture of the image you wish to present to Ted. Make sure your essays convey different aspects of your experience and personality, and that they reflect your potential to contribute to class, business and the community (that is basically what Ted is trying to figure out throughout the reading of your file). Use an intelligent, yet accessible tone, and avoid general statements, cliches, unnecessary jargon, and any dry facts mentioned in other parts of your application form. Answer the question fully, and answer only the question. Be specific and use anecdotes and examples that will liven up your essays and demonstrate academic ability, professional capacity, international affinity, and distinctive personality.

Let Ted gobble up your essay while he puts lunch on hold.

About the Process

Putting an effective file together can take anywhere from a week to several months. Perspective, however - an important advantage that will allow you to ensure that your essays, CV and recommendation letters in fact illustrate your personality and background most accurately and fully - is gained only when time is available. We therefore recommend beginning the process as soon as possible, preferably about six months prior to your first deadline (and after your GMAT or any other exams are out of the way).

1) Get familiar with the round 1 and round 2 (round 3 is usually not advised) deadlines of your chosen universities (we suggest you apply to 4-6 universities for an MBA, and to approximately 10 universities for an MA, MSc or a PhD).

2) Contact us as soon as possible to ensure we have ample time to handle your file. Optimally, you should reserve three months of work time prior to your first deadline (for example, it is now April and your first deadline is 15 September. Call now to reserve time from 15 June).

3) Download the files with the essay questions (or have them mailed to your address), and begin jotting down ideas. Go through one university only (the one with the closest deadline, or of time is plentiful - the one requiring the most words per question).

4) Contact us again with your ideas at least a month before our joint work begins, if you wish to get help with your general strategy. Otherwise, we will begin to work on your written file as scheduled.

5) Over a period of approximately three months, we will correspond by email and phone on a daily or nearly-daily basis. Drafts will be improved via a strictly interactive process (this ensures your file remains authentic), with answers dissected individually to:

·          Scrutinize choice of topic

·          Enliven storytelling

·          Enhance depth

·          Increase factual and verbal precision

·          Revise information flow

·          Edit grammar

You will be astounded with the difference - what you were convinced was a true reflection of your story and ability will pale at the most in comparison with the striking file now ready to be sent out. Just wait to be invited for interviews...

·          “Tamar portrays the perfect editor, demonstrating all the traits necessary for optimal success through the college application process. She is sharp, witty, and thorough, familiar with the requisites and demands of the application elements, and possessing years of experience in the field. She is exceedingly pleasant to work with, while at the same time demanding and bringing out the best in her clients.

I was accepted only into the universities on which she mentored me; other attempts failed…

If you’re already pursuing professional assistance – why not do so from the best?”

·         “I chose to work with Tamar based on an enthusiastic recommendation from GMAX and the excellent personal impression I obtained through our phone conversation. I was drawn by Tamar’s rich experience and profound knowledge of the application process, as well as her accessible, personal approach.

It was very important to me to convey my story in a clear, concise, interesting manner. Tamar invested great effort in perfecting my applications, helping me emphasize my stronger sides and enabling me to deliver my message in the strongest form possible.

The results speak for themselves – I was accepted into the four business schools to which I applied, including Chicago GSB (my first choice), Columbia, LBS, and Wharton.”

·          “Tamar’s questions, persistent call for clarification, and steadfast commitment to detail transformed my file into an excellent one…The messages I sought to convey came across clearly, strongly, and in a captivating fashion. Our productive collaboration convinced the admissions committee of my worthwhile candidacy.”

·         “I chose to work with Tamar Cohen after carefully scrutinizing the leading factors in the MBA essay editing and planning market. Tamar didn’t go easy on me throughout the planning and writing of the essays, and turned every cornerstone of my strategy, examining and deepening every sentence, its phrasing, and its overall significance. I credit her with the fact that I was admitted into the MBA programs at Chicago and LBS.”
- Gur Biron, Chicago GSB

·         “Tamar Cohen offered me critical feedback that improved my essays tremendously. The quality of her work was superb – she censored, sharpened, and added (based on information she extracted from me) outstandingly. Always with a smile, always on time. I was accepted into a number of prestigious MBA programs, but I decided to take an MSc. in Economics and Accounting at LSE (London School of Business) after I received a full grant (study and living expenses) from the British government.”

·         “A waitlist candidate, I only regret having approached Tamar relatively late in the application process. Still, after her touch, my essays emerged stronger, more polished, and more professional. Tamar does not limit herself to correcting the grammar and phrasing of the essays, but contributes from her vast experience to improving the essays’ content. I credit Tamar with a considerable part of my successful admission into UC Berkeley.”
- Barak Turovsky, UC Berkeley

·         “Aside from the great professionalism she demonstrated, Tamar offered excellent service: meeting intense deadlines (work-related circumstances led us to work at almost the last moment), nonstop communication, great dependability regarding charges, curtsey, kindness, morality, and congeniality.

Tamar holds many stocks in my present studies at HEC. While working together, via her questions and suggestions, Tamar assists greatly in the process you will be undergoing incessantly while studying. Consolidating your self-identity (who am I? what do I know? Where am I going?), and consolidating the product you will be selling to the schools (and later the market): where are your advantages? What’s your uniqueness? How should this be presented?

Working with Tamar was a consequential milestone without which I would probably not be approaching the end of my degree.”

- Guy Danon, HEC
